Soofa’s Remote Team Reconnects in Boston for Soofari Event

On July 25th, our Soofarians gathered at the Soofa headquarters in Cambridge, MA, for an exciting week of fun activities and bonding! This event was extra special, since most of our team members are located all over the U.S and world, and often don’t get to see each other in person.

Considering this, Soofari was a great way for our employees to socialize and get to know each other better. It also helped Soofa build on our company culture, since remotely distributed teams often have different daily interactions than an in-person environment provides.

Some highlights from the week include a scavenger hunt around Boston, going to see a Boston Red Sox game, and visiting the MIT Media Lab to see where our founders created Soofa. Also, we got to check out Soofa Signs all over Boston!

Remote Culture at Soofa

Soofa transitioned to a hybrid remote work environment soon after COVID-19 emerged, and has continued ever since. Remote work practices have generally increased in the past few years, and for Soofa, it’s allowed us to expand our team based on talent, not physical location.

According to Findstack, 16% of companies globally are fully-remote as of April 2022, whereas 44% of companies still don’t allow for remote work. But overall, it seems like more employees appreciate the flexibility of working remotely since it offers a work life balance and increased productivity.

Soofa’s Company Growth

By being able to hire talented individuals who live anywhere, Soofa’s growth has increased, as well. As of August 2022, the Soofa team has increased to include 36 team members. Also, in 2021 we expanded into many new cities and partnered with exciting advertisers.

Now that our Soofarians have had time since the Soofari events, some mentioned that the best part was getting to work face to face with people they’ve only known on a screen. Some even found out surprisingly fun details about their co-worker’s lives, or how tall they actually are!

One person stated, “I understand our leadership's vision for Soofa and how they see us getting there. I knew they wanted to grow the company, but now I have a better understanding of the importance of city customer happiness, and the importance of growing the media side of our business and the means of doing so."

Overall, Soofari brought our team’s spirit together and provided new motivation to work hard for our city and advertiser partners. Are you interested in learning more about what it’s like working at Soofa? Check out our open job listings here.
