Soofa’s New My Widgets Page for Landowners
My Widgets is the newest section on Soofa Talk that is accessible to all landowners with Soofa Signs. The new feature allows landowners to control and customize the content that appears on their Soofa Signs in real-time!
My Widgets Benefits
The primary goal of the My Widgets page is to provide a new level of engagement for landowners. They’ll be able to control what their Soofa Sign’s layout looks like, decide what content will be shown, and utilize new features on their own. As landowners customize their Soofa Signs with specific widgets, they’ll also gain insight into the functionality and status of their signs - through a simple yet informative UI.
My Widgets will also help landowners save time and effort while getting started with Soofa, since they’ll have full control over simple widget setup and adjustment.
Additionally, the My Widgets feature aims to boost Soofa Signs as an agile and effective way to communicate hyper-local information in the right-of-way. More control over functionality and appearance will give landowners the confidence to utilize Soofa Signs to their full extent. Also, the ease of use for My Widgets will allow Soofa Engineering to quickly and effectively offer new features and customization to meet landowner requests.
What Can Landowners Control?
Landowners can control context-specific settings for supported widgets themselves instead of having to contact Soofa for changes.
The V1 release includes the following widgets:
For example, Landowners can add and remove which Twitter handles' tweets appear in the Twitter widget on their signs, control the look and feel of the Google Calendar/RSS events widget, add or remove Facebook pages, and more - all with live-updating previews showing how the widget will appear!
We hope to expand on the controllability of current widgets and introduce control over all existing and upcoming widgets in the near future. We prioritized these five as they are some of the most popular and dynamic widgets.
What’s Next?
Our engineering team hopes to expand the control options of the five V1 widgets, as well as a few other popular widgets - specifically News, Header and Transit. There are also some new and exciting widgets in the pipeline that we look forward to introducing.
In the longer-term, we plan to add fully user-controllable sign layouts, and My Widgets is a big step towards making that a reality!
